Mobile consumption is increasing with the price of smartphones !!

In the budget of 2019-20, the budget has been proposed to increase tariff for smartphone import. As well as being extended from midnight today, supplementary tariffs on the use of mobile phones SIM or RIM.

Following the announcement of Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal on Thursday, the National Board of Revenue (NBR) directed mobile operators to impose additional tax on the budget. Presently the customers are paying supplementary duty as well as 15 percent VAT and 1 percent of surcharge to the government. In this budget, the existing VAT and surcharges are linked to 5 percent supplementary duty. This will reduce the overall tariff rate to 27 percent. Currently, mobile phone users use about 10 million This new charge will be applicable on any services using sim or rim.

Meanwhile, in this budget, mobile phones have been divided into two categories, and separate import tariffs have been set. Feature phones usually use low-end populations of the country. The tariff imposed on these expensive phones is 10 percent fixed. On the other hand, smartphones use the wealthy people of the country. So this budget has proposed to increase import duty on smartphones from 10 percent to 25 percent.

The key component of making smartphones is to reduce the imports of imported transistors and crystal diodes from 5 percent to 1 percent. Which will encourage smart phone makers to create smartphones in the country. On the other hand, it is proposed to cut import duty on smartphones' SIM cards from 25 percent to 10 percent, in this budget.
